Green Office Program
Unigreen

Australians use approximately four times the energy per person than the world average.

The University strives to minimise energy consumption through efficient operational control and by promoting energy awareness to the University community.

The University is proactively working to minimise greenhouse gas emissions by purchasing green power and subscribing to the Greenfleet program (P&F fleet vehicles).

Environmental Services, in conjunction with stakeholders, has also developed a draft Greenhouse Gas Abatement Plan to minimise energy and other greenhouse gas emission sources on campus.

Energy Saving Projects

UQ purchases 2.5% green energy
Energy efficiency has been built into Property and Facilities' design standards for new buildings on campus.
Energy efficient lamps are used to replace blown lamps.
Lighting and air conditioning in lecture theatres is centrally controlled to automatically switch on and off as required.
Energy efficient lighting has been installed in some areas and new technologies are being trialed.
UQ’s Green Office Program saved the university an estimated $14,256 in electricity bills and 221 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions in 2006/2007. Read more
