Unigreen promotes a range of environmental areas including:

Energy Management at UQ
The University strives to minimise energy consumption through efficient operational control and by promoting energy awareness to the University community.

Recycling and Waste Minimisation at UQ
UQ's St Lucia campus has significantly reduced recyclables going to landfill. As a percentage of general waste, recyclables have dropped from 56% in 2002 to only 27% in 2008. A range of waste minimisation strategies are in place to further reduce waste going to landfill from UQ campuses and sites.

Water Management at UQ
Water consumption data per calendar year shows a 50% reduction in consumption at UQ St Lucia campus from 2004 to 2008. Water Efficiency Management Plans are in place for St Lucia, Gatton and Ipswich campuses, as well as Pinjarra Hills site and the Indooroopilly Minesite.

Transport and CO2 Emissions
Think about alternative forms of transport to driving to UQ and help reduce CO2 emissions arising from transport.
Property and Facilities Division of the University of Queensland subscribes to Greenfleet to offset greenhouse gas emissions from University Fleet and Property and Facilities vehicles. Greenfleet plants native trees on behalf of motorists to reduce greenhouse gas accumulation. For those interested in joining Greenfleet, details are available at: http://www.greenfleet.com.au/
