The Business & Systems Section provides general clerical and administrative support for the P&F Division including human resource management, financial management, budget development review, systems management and development and monitoring and general policy and planning advice to the Director on all management matters. The scope of work includes:

P&F Business Improvement Management Systems
Property and Facilities has developed Business Improvement Management Systems. The Team is responsible for the management of the system which includes:
- internal audit process
- process improvement systems
- document development and control of all divisional procedures, forms and contract documents
- strategic plans, objectives and targets

P&F Safety Management System (SMS)
The Property and Facilities Division has developed and maintains a Safety Management System. The P&F Health & Safety Coordinator (HSC) is responsible for the management of the system which includes:
- staff training and training programs
- review project safety plans for compliance
- contractor performance
- compliance audits
- project inspections
- strategic safety management plans

P&F Human Resource Management
HR management of approximately 310 P&F staff which includes:
- recruitment and selection;
- industrial and employee relations;
- staff development;
- induction and training;
- processing personnel systems (e.g. timesheets, leave, overtime, allowances and worker's compensation claims); and
- University employment information

P&F Financial Management
Management of all Property and Facilities Division accounts which includes:
- payment of UQ utility accounts (power, gas)
- reviewing, developing and advising on all financial matters for the Director, Property & Facilities
managing accounts payable and receivable - University payment cycle - budget development and review - monthly statements;
- purchasing and processing purchase orders;
- processing claims, cheques, equipment/accession sheets; and
- managing bank guarantees and Building Industry Portable Long Service Leave.

P&F IT
Information Technology is responsible for the management of the P&F computer network (hardware and software) systems and support providing infrastructure, software development and client support for the Division. P&F IT support the staff of the Division in achieving their goals through the provision of Desktop computing support, maintaining server infrastructure, provision of custom programming solutions and support of 3rd Party Software as well as providing technical advice to the Division.
- Leading edge solutions are deployed to ensure service requirements are met. Such technologies include:
- Equallogic Storage Area Networks
- Systems analysis & software development using .NET Team Suite and Team Foundation Server
- Database management using SQL Server Clustering
- Microsoft Office Share Point Server 2007 implemented as a Knowledge Management System
- SQL 2005 Report Server Implementation

UQ Centre
The UQ Centre is a multifunction premier venue used for graduations, ceremonies, exhibitions, conferences, banquets, lectures and cultural and sporting events. The UQ Centre is available for hire to a wide range of community groups, organisations and associations.
