Back to topRefurbishment of Priestley Level 1

Internal refurbishment work of level 1 Priestly Building will commence on 19 November 2009. It is expected that the construction activities will continue until end of February 2010. There will be no access to on level 1, as this will be the Builders Construction Site. The Maths Space Room 140 will not be accessible.

There will be dust and noise associated with the internal demolition and the construction sequences that follow. We trust you will be patient with us, through any periods of inconvenience. We hope to have level 1, completed for the start of Semester 1, next year.

The builder’s construction site areas are accessible to authorised personnel only.

Back to topCampus Enhancement - Chemistry/Priestley area

On September 21st, a large project of Campus Enhancement will commence in the area between the Chemistry and Priestley Buildings. No pedestrian access will be available from September 21 through to around March 2010 as shown by the green area (refer pdf link below).

»  Click here for construction area plan (pdf).

Construction fences will be erected:

  • along the Cooper Rd alignment
  • between Chemistry building and Sir William Macgregor building
  • between Priestley and Computer Science buildings
  • at the head of the stairs from Physiology area down to the Chemistry valley.

All pedestrian traffic passing the Physiology Building will need to divert through the arcade between Computer Science and John Hines Building. Following the examination period (November 23rd) the works will expand to the blue area (refer pdf link above) around the Physiology building refectory. During this stage fences will be erected :

  • at the head of the stairs adjacent the Newsagent which will be able to continue operations
  • adjacent the side door into the refectory near Macgregor building
  • in the arcade between Computer Science and John Hines

During this period pedestrian traffic will need to divert between J D Story and John Hines building or divert around QBI building. The scaffold on John Hines is expected to be removed in mid October. Please note that there are other projects that will disrupt this area in the post exam period. Namely:

  • fit out of floor 6 of John Hines
  • fit out of Faculty office on level 2 of Computer Science
  • renovation of the two lecture theatres in Physiology
  • renovation of the Physiology refectory
  • renovation of the level 1 lecture rooms of Priestley

By the start of 1st Semester 2010 all of the above projects should be complete and the Campus Enhancement works will continue in the Chemistry valley until completion which is expected in March or April 2010.

Other disruptive works associated with the Campus Enhancement are:

  • a 150 dia. water main from the west end of Skerman building through to Cooper Rd
  • a new electrical sub station under Computer Science with conduit connections at the west end of Prentice building.

For further information please contact Jeff Arnold on 0411 152 400 or email j.arnold@pf.uq.edu.au.
We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience during this time.
Back to topRefurbishment of Axon level 1 - TEAL project

Internal refurbishment work of Axon rooms A 102 to A106, including the foyer area will commence on 1 July 2009. It is expected that the construction activities will continue until October 2009. There will be no access to the landscaped court on level 1, (between Axon and Sir James Foots buildings), as this will be the Builders Site Compound. Site fences will be erected demarcating the Building site areas.

The access to the bicycle store at Sir James Foots will be retained for use by patrons. However users of this space please be aware that they will be sharing the access route (down to this facility) off Staff House Road, with builders delivery vehicles, demolition tip trucks etc., as this unfortunately, is the only access available to the builder to reach level 1 of Axon. Please take extra precaution when using the bicycle storage room.

Please note that there will be dust and noise associated with the internal demolition and the construction sequences that follow. We trust you will be patient with us, through any periods of inconvenience.

The builder’s construction site areas is accessible to authorised personnel only.

For further information please contact the Construction Project Manager - Ms Iranthi Cabraal on 0401 990 900. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience during this time.
