Cleaning on St Lucia, Ipswich and Gatton campuses covers similar types of work and are responsible for general cleaning of offices, laboratories, seminar rooms, lecture theatres, toilets, tea rooms and public areas throughout the University.

General Cleaning duties include:
» vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and polishing floors;
» removing graffiti;
» spot cleaning glass;
» removing cobwebs;
» dusting;
» stripping and sealing floors (annually);
» garbage collection;
» cleaning ceiling fans (annually);
» assisting with recycling of paper, cardboard and aluminium;
» carpet shampooing (annually); and
» cleaning venetian blinds (annually).
All general services are carried out once per week. Toilets, classrooms, public areas, entrances, tea rooms and meeting rooms are cleaned daily.
The St Lucia campus has let contracts for:
» clinical and related wastes (pathological);
» cleaning service;
» sanitary/hygiene bins;
» general garbage removal;
» window cleaning; and
» pest control.

Cleaning is also responsible for processing applications for vending machines in University buildings and operating a tea room service in the JD Story Building (which services meetings and the general administration staff) and Forgan Smith Building (the academic tea room).
Gatton Cleaning is also responsible for cleaning windows (using a cherry picker), cleaning the halls of residence, training kitchens, piggery, motel and dining hall, and setting up rooms for exams, short courses and graduations, as well as handling furniture removals.
