Q. How can I find out information on my project?
A. Go to the Construction Projects Information Sheet page on this website (click here for the Constructon Project Information Sheet) or contact the relevant Construction Project Manager via 51870, or alternatively contact the Works Control Centre on 52222.

Q. How can I get a copy of a floor plan?
A. A copy of a building floor plan can be obtained from Property and Facilities Maintenance Annexe, Building 87, Services Road, St Lucia Campus between the hours of 9am to 11am and 2pm to 4pm Monday to Friday.
Q. How do I get a copy of an As Constructed Drawing?
A. Most As-Constructed Drawings are available in electronic format and paper copies. They can be obtained from Property and Facilities Maintenance Annexe, Building 87, Services Road, St Lucia Campus between the hours of 9am to 11am and 2pm to 4pm Monday to Friday.

Q. Why does the University have an Environmental Management System (EMS)?
A. The Environmental Management System provides a disciplined approach and framework for managing the impacts the University has on its environment. It includes an environmental manual of procedures for air quality, energy, noise, waste and water management.
Q. How do I obtain an Environmental Manual?
A. The Environmental Manual may be accessed at www.pf.uq.edu.au/ems.html
Q. What are my environmental responsibilities?
A. Under the Environmental Protection Act 1994, everyone has a "general environmental duty". You have a responsibility to report anything that may harm the environment. In particular, if you deal with hazardous materials, you should be competent in correctly handling and disposing of them.
Q. What do I do if I become aware of an environmental problem?
A. If you become aware of an environmental issue you have a duty to notify the Environmental Engineer, on 51587 or email: unigreen@pf.uq.edu.au, who will:
  • verify the extent and degree of the problem;
  • advise you of the findings; and
  • report any breach of the Environmental Protection Act 1994 to the Environmental Protection Agency.
Q. What's the difference between safety and environmental issues?
A. Safety issues encompass personal safety activities. Environmental issues encapsulates all activities that may impart on the environment covering the areas of air quality, energy, noise, waste and water management. For example, air emissions from fumehoods or hazardous liquids, oils, paints, fertilisers, etc being poured into sinks or into stormwater drains.

Q. Can you line mark for a variety of sport (according to bookings)?
A. Yes, but require approximately 1 week's notice.
Q. Can we have a plant decoration for a function?
A. Yes! Complete an interdepartmental requisition, any plants which go missing will be charged to your account.
Q. There is an injured animal, can you do something about it?
A. Yes! We will attempt to catch the animal and take it to the Vet School.

Q. What is the difference between 'D' numbers and 'M' numbers?
A. 'D' numbers (department) relate to costs associated with construction, renovations or alterations at the request of the department. These works involve the creation, improvement or enhancement of an asset.
'M' numbers (maintenance) relate to costs associated with maintenance or repairs as a result of fair wear and tear. The asset is returned to its former state or condition.

Q. What is a Quality Management System (QMS)?
A. The Quality Management System provides a disciplined approach for developing and maintaining a continuous improvement cycle ensuring compliance against the international standard ISO 9001. It is not just a set of documentation but a full cycle of information, feedback, audit and review.
Q. Why does P&F have a QMS?
A. There are many reasons for P& F to use ISO 9001, but put simply, it is all about P& F understanding what we do, communicating with others and finding ways of doing our job better. Click here to find out more about the QMS.

Q. How is lost property handled?
A. Property and Facilities' Security Section handle both lost and found property. Lost Property is open between 1.00 p.m and 4.00 p.m. Monday to Thursday, CLOSED Friday. Messages can be left on the message bank by calling 3365 1129.  This message service is available 24 hours a day. You will be contacted only if your items have been located.
Q. Where can I park?
A. Parking enquiries can be made at the information booth located adjacent to the roundabout on Sir Fred Schonell Drive/Colleridge Street intersection Monday-Friday 7am-3pm. Contact Traffic Section for more details on 3365 1016. (Traffic & Parking is not a Property & Facilities Division function)
Q. How do I obtain after hours access to buildings and rooms?
A. You will need your student/staff I.D. card and an After Hours Authorisation Form obtained from the Administration Officer of each Department.
Q. What time does the Safety Bus run?
A. Safety Buses run every half hour between 6pm and 11pm Mon-Thurs and every half hour between 6pm-9pm Friday.

Q. Will maintenance pay or is it a departmental charge?
A. Maintenance covers repairs to the fabric of the building and services to it. Departments pay for repairs to their own equipment and any new work.
Q. How long will the job take?
A. All jobs are prioritised according to our quality procedures.
Q. What sort of maintenance do Property and Facilities handle?
A. All types of maintenance both corrective and preventive which covers buildings, grounds and services to all University campuses, excluding telephone faults and cleaning services.
