To provide comprehensive facilities management, using integrated systems and services, to support the University’s goals and its environment. This will be achieved throughout the Division in the core areas of service delivery, risk management, customer service, and resource and systems management.
Our Role
The Property and Facilities Division is responsible for the construction of new buildings, alterations to existing accommodation, maintenance of University grounds, and the security, maintenance and cleaning of over 100 buildings on the main St Lucia campus, 20 buildings on the Ipswich campus, as well as a further 272 buildings on the Gatton campus and other external properties such as the Mayne Graduate Medical School at Herston and the research sites at Heron Island, Indooroopilly Mine, Low Isles, and Charters Towers. The gross floor area of buildings on the St Lucia campus is 265,956 square metres, 10,237 square metres on Ipswich campus and 58,620 square metres on the Gatton campus, with the total gross floor area for all sites being 397,430 square metres. It also provides services for University stores, mail, transport and furniture.
The Division employs over 300 staff in professional, administrative, maintenance, security and cleaning positions. The Division maintains offices at the St Lucia, Gatton and Ipswich campuses.
The Director, Property and Facilities Division, Alasdair McClintock, has overall responsibility for the management of the Division as well as the provision of professional advice to the University executive and the broader University community. Planning
Planning Services are responsible for site planning and quality of design for development at all University sites. This involves preparation and review of site development plans for each campus and design input and monitoring of design for all building and external works projects. The Construction team is responsible for the provision of management services for all major and minor building works as well as refurbishment projects. The Construction Manager can be contacted on 3365 1113.
The Engineering Services team is responsible for providing a broad range of support services to the Division. These include expertise in electrical, mechanical, acoustic, hydraulic, structural and civil engineering systems on all sites. The Engineering Manager can be contacted on 3365 3205.
The Operations team is responsible for maintenance, security, environmental services, works control and grounds maintenance on all campuses and maintenance store on St Lucia campus. The Operations Manager can be contacted on 3365 2233.
The Services team is responsible for cleaning, furniture acquisition and distribution, mail sorting and distribution, garage and vehicle pool, and warehousing on all campuses, as well as printery and post office on the Gatton campus. The Services Manager can be contacted on 3365 2360.
Administration and Information Technology
Administration on both St Lucia and Gatton campuses provides general clerical and administrative support for the whole division including human resource management, financial management, information technology support and development, budget development review and monitoring and general policy and planning advice to the Director on all management matters. The Division has won numerous awards for architectural and engineering design, energy management, heritage conservation and environmental management.
The Division has implemented an integrated management system (IMS) which incorporates the development and maintenance of quality, environmental and safety management systems. The Division has achieved continued certification for our quality and safety management systems against the international and Australian standards AS/NZS ISO 9001 and AS/NZS 4801 respectively.
