What is Unigreen?

Unigreen is a promotional arm of The University of Queensland made up of both internal and external stakeholders that promotes environmental awareness throughout the University community.

Unigreen promotes a range of environmental areas including:




Energy Management at UQ
The University strives to minimise energy consumption through efficient operational control and by promoting energy awareness to the University community.




Recycling and Waste Minimisation at UQ
The University of Queensland has reduced recyclables going to landfill by 47% over the past 3 years. (2002-2005). A range of waste minimisation strategies are in place to further reduce waste going to landfill from UQ.




Water Management at UQ
UQ has reduced its water consumption by 25% since water restrictions were introduced in June 2005. UQ's Water Efficiency Management Plan includes an objective to reduce water consumption by another 25% in line with Level 4 Water Restrictions.








Transport and CO2 Emissions
Think about alternative forms of transport to driving to UQ and help reduce CO2 emissions arising from transport. Further details are available at: http://www.uq.edu.au/parking/
Greenfleet plants native trees on behalf of motorists to reduce greenhouse gas accumulation . Property and Facilities Division of the University of Queensland subscribes to Greenfleet to offset greenhouse gas emissions from University Fleet and Property and Facilities vehicles.
