FAQS:

  • CellOPark is already in use across Brisbane so many people parking UQ will already be familiar with the system.
  • CellOPark is a FREE and easy to use smartphone app which allows you to pay for parking.
  • There are three simple ways to start and stop paid parking sessions, via the app, online or by calling the CellOPark phone number.
  • In parking areas where hourly rates apply, you will only pay for what you use. Just start your parking session when you arrive, and stop it when you leave. (Be aware that some carparks have maximum time limits.)
  • In all day parking areas, simply start your session and you’ll be charged for the day. You won’t need to stop your session when you leave.
  • Your details will be kept secure.
  • No lining up at a parking machine to pay and no more paper tickets, so you can get to your lectures on time.
  • You don’t have to worry about carrying cash to pay for parking, simply register with CellOPark NOW and select to pay by credit card, debit card or with a CellOPark pre-paid card. The pre-paid cards are available online, or via the app, or purchase them at PF Assist, level 2, Prentice Building (42) from July (credit/debit card purchase only).

There’s no need to return to your vehicle to display a paper ticket, just continue to your destination. You can even request an eReceipt for your records.

Your vehicle registration is recorded when you start a parking session. You should always remember to activate your parking session as vehicle registration plates are used by UQ Parking Officers to check if there is an active parking session for your car.

Payments for parking sessions are made automatically according to your selected payment method when you registered with CellOPark.

You can also register for the Premium service, which provides SMS and other reminders to let you know when your parking session is soon to expire. The optional Premium service carries a service fee of $1.99 per month.

Please note: there are no changes to the current UQ Parking Fee structure for 2017.

The transaction approval is always listed on the statements along with a sale amount. There are two figures, but if you check the balance you will see that the sale amount is only deducted once.

Pre-paid cards can be purchased from CellOPark online or via the app. Alternatively, pre-paid cards can be purchased from PF Assist (by credit /debit card only), level 2, Prentice Building (42).

If you have a UQ Staff ID but you are non-payroll staff, your ID will be returned as non-valid in the CellOPark system. This means you can park in any casual zone except the PINK ZONE restricted areas.

There are many categories of non-payroll staff including contractors and affiliated groups who have a UQ ID but are excluded from parking in UQ restricted areas. This is to ensure maximum parking allocation for UQ Staff and Students.

This broad categorisation of non-payroll staff unfortunately also includes unpaid staff such as adjunct professors and visiting academics. If you are in this category and require parking in the PINK ZONE, contact PF Assist who will be able to validate your employment status manually and provide advice on parking in restricted spaces.

Staff with a Valid ID

  • You can use your UQ user name or your employee number in the CellOPark App.
  • Your UQ user name is your UQ login. Your employee number can be found next to your name in Aurion.

Student with a Valid ID

  • You can use your student number or your UQ user name in the CellOPark App.
  • Your user name will commence with a lower case 's' followed by the first 7 digits of your student number. For example, if your student number is 12345678, your UQ Sign-In username will be s1234567.

Head to a computer, computer lab or library, login to your account and start your parking session.

Alternatively head to one of the Pay by Plate machines, where a registration number is entered. 21 Pay by Plate machines are strategically located around the St Lucia campus and will accept coins or credit cards.

In 14P daily areas, you will be charged the daily rate.
In 14P hourly areas, you will be charged a maximum daily rate of $25.

You will need to stop your parking session and start again, being careful to choose the correct zone. Depending on how long you take to do this, you may be charged for some time in the incorrect zone.

If you overstay in the 1½ hour zones (e.g. University Drive and Campbell Road) your session ends and you no longer have a valid parking session, so may be infringed.

You will be able to add multiple registration details to your account so you can simply choose the correct vehicle on the day that you park.

The vehicle you have will not be recognised as having a valid parking session and you will be infringed. Once you realise this has occurred, simply stop your session and restart choosing the correct details.

Your vehicle registration number is attached to your CellOPark details, so it will be recorded when you start a new parking session.

Our inspectors use licence plate recognition software to scan vehicle registrations and will be alerted when drivers haven't paid for a session.

Standard call and data charges apply according to the plan you have with your mobile service provider.

No, you do not need to register with CellOPark. You can pay via coin or credit card using a Pay by Plate machine for the zone. You will need to enter your registration details into the machine and your session will be recorded automatically.
