What do you need to know?

** Paid parking applies on the St Lucia campus between 7am and 9pm **
  • Parking is limited during teaching periods and is extremely limited between 8:00am - 2:00pm weekdays.
  • Queensland Traffic Regulations apply 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. The speed limits on campus provide major safety benefits, and are enforced by Queensland Police.
  • The University accepts no liability for damage to vehicles driven or parked on its property – these activities are undertaken at the driver's/owner's risk.
  • Pay & Display Machines

    Instructions for Pay & Display Machines:

    Pay by credit card:

  1. Press the orange button to activate the machine
  2. Press the red arrow to increase the time
  3. Press the green button to confirm the transaction, or red to cancel
  4. Tap or Insert your Visa or MasterCard – wait for the transaction to approve.
    Please note: minimum payment by credit card is $5.00
  5. Retrieve your pay & display ticket from the dispenser

    Pay by coin:

  1. Insert coins (until time required is shown).
    Please note: minimum payment by coin is 20-cents.
  2. Press the green button to print ticket, or red button to cancel.
  3. Retrieve your pay & display ticket from the dispenser

    Change Machines

    Pay & Display machines do not give change and it is the users' responsibility to tender the correct fee when purchasing a pay & display ticket. However, at the St Lucia campus two note-changing machines are located on level two of the Conifer Knoll carpark and two more are available in the UQ Centre carpark.

What type of casual or visitor parking do you want?

14P Daily - All Day Flat Rate - Pay and Display Machines - Credit Card & Coins accepted

14P Daily - All-day parking is available with tickets dispensed from pay & display machines. Pay & display tickets must be displayed on the dashboard with the details visible from outside the vehicle.

Pay-and-display machines, are located at multiple points in 14P Daily parking areas such as:

  • P7 - Keith Street carpark,
  • P8 - Oval-6 carpark (opposite the Athletics track),
  • P9 - Rugby carpark (near the Boatshed roundabout),
  • Level 3 (roof top) of P11 - Conifer Knoll carpark,
  • Sir William MacGregor Drive.

The 14P Daily pay & display ticket is only valid in 14P Daily zones, and may not be used in other parking areas.

14P Daily parking areas at St Lucia and Herston are indicated on the parking guide maps by the colour dark purple.

The 14P Daily zone ticket purchased at Herston may be used at St Lucia on the same day it is issued.

How much does this cost?

 

14P Hourly parking - Pay and Display Machines - Credit Card and Coins accepted

14P Hourly (Long Term parking) is available with tickets dispensed from pay & display machines. Pay & display tickets must be displayed on the dashboard with the details visible from outside the vehicle.

Pay and Display machines are located in the:

  • P10 - UQ Sport Aquatic Centre carpark (entry from Union Rd, or by driving thru UQ Sport Synthetic Field carpark,
  • P10 - UQ Centre carpark (entry from Union Road),
  • P10 - UQ Sport Synthetic Field carpark (entry from Sir William MacGregor Drive),
  • P6 - Mill Road carpark,
  • P12 - Campus Kindy carpark (off College Road),
  • and along Blair Drive (adjacent the Tennis Centre).

14P Hourly parking areas are indicated by the colour light purple on the parking guide maps for St Lucia and Herston.

Pay & display machines do not give change, and it is the users' responsibility to tender the correct fee. Change machines are located in the UQ Centre carpark.

How much does this cost?

 

Motorcycle Parking - Pay and Display Machines - Credit Card and Coins accepted

The 1½ P, 14P Hourly and 14P Daily pay & display tickets are valid in motorcycle parking areas. It is suggested that the rider writes his/her registration number on the pay & display ticket before displaying it on the bike. Motorbike Zone

  • Motorcycles must be parked in valid motorcycle parking zones only.
  • Motorcycles may not be parked in parking bays assigned for cars in any zone on all University sites .
  • This condition applies at all times, not only during the hours of paid parking.

Where are motorcycle areas located?

Undercover motorcycle areas are available:

  • levels 1 & 2 of the Conifer Knoll Carpark
  • beneath the UQ Centre (27A),
  • under the Warehouse complex (99),
  • Sir James Foots Building car park (Building 47A
  • within Multi-level Carpark 2 (Building 98B), and
  • below the Ritchie Laboratories (64A).

 

Scratch-It Permits

Faculties, Schools, and other organisational units can pre-purchase purple or orange Scratch-It permits for their visitors.  The purple Scratch-It is valid in 1½ P, 14P Hourly and 14P Daily parking areas, and the orange Scratch-It is valid in the Multi-level Car park off Sir Fred Schonell Drive. 

How much does this cost?

Permits are valid for one day only. 

Payment is made via a Request for Internal Service Quote (RISQ) form:

 

1½P - Short Term parking (time-limited) - Pay and Display Machines - Credit Card and Coins accepted

1½P (Short-term parking) using pay & display machines with a 1½-hour maximum time limit is available in Campbell Road and University Drive.

How much does this cost?

Inserting more than the maximum fee will NOT extend the 1½-hour maximum limit. The fee is charged at an hourly rate.

Pay & display tickets must be displayed on the dashboard with the details visible from outside the vehicle.

After 6:00pm each evening, the time restriction is eased, and patrons may purchase a ticket for the whole period between 6:00pm and 9:00pm or for a part thereof - the fee is calculated at the same hourly rate.

1½P - Short-term parking areas are indicated by the colour yellow on the parking guide maps.

1½P Short-term limited-time parking - Disabled Bays

A disability permit issued by the Queensland Department of Transport (or an authorised body in another State) must be clearly displayed through the windscreen, with all details visible. No pay & display permit or fee is required.
